Though California has been biggest producer of Washington's draft picks, Texas players have made biggest impact.

Almost 20 percent of the Redskins' draft picks are players who attended high school in California, yet none of them have come in the first three rounds. Three of them have come in the fourth round, led by running back Roy Helu, of San Ramon Valley (Danville). He was picked in 2011.

* The Redskins have really looked to the Lone Star State for top picks, including first-round selections quarterback Robert Griffin III of
Copperas Cove and tackle Trent Williams of
Longview. Griffin was the No. 2 selection overall in 2012 and Williams went fourth overall in 2010.
* Another first-round pick from Texas was linebacker Brian Orakpo of
Lamar (Houston), the 13th pick overall in 2009.
* Overall, the Redskins have picked 12 Texans during the draft over the last 10 years.
* Other states the Redskins have taken players from: Florida (9), Georgia (5), Louisiana (4), Ohio (3) and Pennsylvania (2).
* Two players from nearby Maryland have been selected: cornerback Kevin Barnes of
Old Mill (Millersville, Md.) and guard Arie-Manual Kouandjio of
DeMatha (Hyattsville, Md.). Barnes was picked in the third round of the 2009 draft and Kouandjio was in the fourth round in 2015.
