Softball Recap: Hawley Comes Up Short

Hawley fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Stamford on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They lost 9-1 to the Bulldogs. The Bearcats just can't catch a break and have now endured five losses in a row.

Lily Bailey spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and six unearned) runs on 12 hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

Hawley's defeat dropped their record down to 3-10. As for Stamford, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-5 record this season.

As of now, neither Hawley nor Stamford have any future games scheduled.
