Football Recap: Allatoona Buccaneers vs. River Ridge Knights
Allatoona won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Friday. They were dealt a 42-13 defeat at the hands of the River Ridge Knights. While losing is never fun, the Buccaneers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 235th, while the Knights are ranked 103rd).
Although Allatoona took the loss, they still got scores from Xavier Rucker and Cruz Paul.
Allatoona wouldn't let River Ridge keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force two fumbles. Allatoona can thank Andrew Ingle and Noah Atkins for forcing both of them. Ingle didn't just play on offense: he also forced a fumble and made eight total tackles.
Ethan Spector had a dynamite game for River Ridge, throwing for 294 yards and five touchdowns while completing 82.6% of his passes, and also rushing for 30 yards. That's the most rushing yards Spector has posted since back in August of 2023. Grant Hollier did his part for the team as well, scoring a TD off of 65 receiving yards.
Allatoona now has a losing record at 1-2. As for River Ridge, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Allatoona will be playing at home against Holy Innocents Episcopal at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for River Ridge, they will play host again on Friday to welcome Woodstock, where kickoff is scheduled at 7:30 p.m. Woodstock will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something River Ridge surely won't give up without a fight.
