Recap: Scales Mound Hornets vs. Glenbard West Hilltoppers
The Scales Mound Hornets have been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. The game between them and Glenbard West wasn't particularly close, with Scales Mound falling 70-52. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Scales Mound of the 70-49 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2023.
Despite the loss, Scales Mound still got an impressive performance from Thomas Hereau, who scored 25 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. Hereau hasn't dropped below 15 points for five straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Seth Birkett, who scored ten points.
Scales Mound's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 19-7. As for Glenbard West, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a massive bump to their 13-12 record this season.
Scales Mound will be playing at home against Benton at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Benton is coming into the game with seven straight wins on the road, meaning Scales Mound will have to defend against a squad hungry for a victory. As for Glenbard West, they will face off against Downers Grove North at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Downers Grove North presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Glenbard West in Illinois (Downers Grove North is ranked 23rd, while Glenbard West is ranked 138th).
