Soccer Game Preview: Stadium vs. Kentridge

The Stadium Tigers will head out to challenge the Kentridge Chargers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Stadium had to skate by with only a one-goal margin when they last took the pitch, which might have inspired the five-goal drubbing they dealt Auburn on Tuesday. The Tigers never let the Trojans get on the board and left with a 5-0 win. Stadium haven't had any issues with Auburn recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Meanwhile, Kentridge hadn't done well against Kentwood recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Chargers walked away with a 2-0 win over the Conquerors. The final result isn't all the surprising considering Kentridge's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Washington soccer rankings (they are ranked 44th, while Kentwood are ranked 141st).

Edi Dacic and Cody Stoner scored both of Kentridge's goals, bringing their combined season tally to ten goals.

Kentridge is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-3-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those five games. As for Stadium, their win bumped their record up to 6-2-4.

Everything went Stadium's way against Kentridge in their previous meeting back in March, as Stadium made off with a 3-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
