Baseball Game Preview: Rangeview Raiders vs. Alameda Pirates

Rangeview is on a four-game streak of home wins, while Alameda is on a five-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Raiders will host the Pirates at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Rangeview has given up an average of 7.3 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Rangeview's offense. They came up short against Vista PEAK Prep on Tuesday, falling 11-0. That's two games in a row now that the Raiders have lost by exactly 11 runs.

Meanwhile, Alameda won against Englewood on Monday with 13 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Wednesday. Everything went the Pirates' way against Fort Lupton as they made off with a 13-3 win. The result was nothing new for the Pirates, who have now won 14 matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.

Alan Chairez was incredible, firing off two home runs and five RBI while going 2-for-3. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Vinny Arguello, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.

Alameda was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .450. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .320 or higher in 13 consecutive games.

Rangeview has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-8 record this season. As for Alameda, their victory bumped their record up to 15-2.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Rangeview has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.5 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Alameda struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
