Basketball Recap: Angleton Comes Up Short

Angleton won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Saturday. They came up short against The Woodlands Highlanders, falling 57-37. The Wildcats' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

The Woodlands was led to victory by Isa Alaniz and Rachael Roberts. Alaniz went 6 for 11 on her way to 14 points, while Roberts went 5 of 10 on her way to 12 points and six assists. That's the most assists Roberts has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Aiden Pino, who went 7 of 13 on her way to 14 points.

Angleton's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-7. As for The Woodlands, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-9 record this season.

Angleton will be playing in front of their home fans against La Porte at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. As for The Woodlands, they will challenge New Caney at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (The Woodlands has four straight wins, New Caney has seven straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.
