Basketball Recap: Summer Creek Extends Winning Streak to Three

Summer Creek waltzed into their game on Saturday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They snuck past the North Shore Mustangs with a 68-64 win. Given the Bulldogs' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 56th, while the Mustangs are ranked 283rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

North Shore lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Sean Mayberry, who went 5 of 10 on his way to 14 points and five boards. The team also got some help courtesy of LaDamian Defreeze, who went 6 of 9 on his way to 14 points and five rebounds.

Summer Creek is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-9 record this season. As for North Shore, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-13 record this season.

Summer Creek will square off against Channelview at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Summer Creek is facing Channelview at the right time seeing as Channelview is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
