Softball Recap: Scottsdale Christian Academy Extends Winning Streak to Three

Scottsdale Christian Academy proved they can win big last Monday (they won by 19) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out the Arizona Lutheran Academy Coyotes 14-13. Winning may never get old, but the Eagles sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Madeleine (Maddie) Ketchum spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned (and seven unearned) runs on eight hits.

At the plate, Evin Ott was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with six RBI, two stolen bases, and two runs. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kennedy Trillo, who scored four runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4.

Ott wasn't the only one making solid contact: Scottsdale Christian Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Scottsdale Christian Academy pushed their record up to 6-5 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.7 runs over those games. As for Arizona Lutheran Academy, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-7.

Looking ahead, Scottsdale Christian Academy will take on Madison Highland Prep at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. The Heat have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 24.17 runs per game on average), something the Eagles will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Arizona Lutheran Academy, they will face off against Horizon Honors at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Coyotes will need to watch out since the Eagles have now posted at least ten runs in their last seven contests.
