Recap: Mountain Brook Spartans vs. Gardendale Rockets
Even though the Gardendale Rockets scored an imposing 42 points on Friday, the Mountain Brook Spartans still came out on top. Mountain Brook took down Gardendale 56-42. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Mountain Brook.
Cole Gamble continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 296 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 8.0 yards per carry. Gamble hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for four straight games. Clark Sanderson did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 181 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Despite the loss, Gardendale still got an impressive performance from Boogie Harris iii, who rushed for 233 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 9.0 yards per carry. Harris iii was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 61 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Mac Beason, who threw for 208 yards and four touchdowns.
Mountain Brook pushed their record up to 7-3 with that win, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 27.36 points. As for Gardendale, their loss dropped their record down to 3-7.
Mountain Brook will square off against Baker at TBD on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Alabama (Baker is ranked 17th, while Mountain Brook is ranked 23rd). As for Gardendale, they will head out on the road to face off against Hueytown at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hueytown will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
