Baseball Recap: Moorhead Extends Winning Streak to Three

Moorhead entered their tilt with Century on Saturday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They put the hurt on the Patriots with a sharp 10-4 victory. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Spuds have posted against the Patriots since May 16, 2015.

Carson Heinsch was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season. Riley Dickhaus was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Moorhead was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .457. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Moorhead pushed their record up to 3-2 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Century, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-3-1.

Looking ahead, Moorhead will host Alexandria at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Spuds 3.6, the Cardinals 2) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Century, they will head out to challenge Kidder County co-op [Steele/Tappen/Wing/Napoleon] at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
