Football Recap: South Summit Starts Season with Defeat on the Road

South Summit had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They fell 29-20 to the Duchesne Eagles on Saturday.

South Summit's loss came despite strong showings from Blake Osguthorpe and Ian Mair. Osguthorpe picked up 93 receiving yards and two scores, while Mair threw for 216 yards and three touchdowns.

Even if they lost, South Summit's defense still kept up the pressure with three sacks. Leading the way was Brody Larsen with two. South Summit got some further help from Ammon Marchant: he made 17 total tackles (1.0 for loss).

Kasen Crum was nothing short of spectacular for Duchesne: he rushed for 200 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 7.1 yards per carry.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. South Summit will welcome North Summit at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Duchesne, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Layton Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m.
