Volleyball Recap: Musselman Applemen vs. Hedgesville Eagles
Musselman faced Hedgesville in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Applemen came up short against the Eagles, falling 3-0. The loss continues a trend for the Applemen in their meetings with the Eagles: they've now lost three in a row.
While Musselman was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the third set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 25-19, 25-23.
Olivia Allis paced Musselman's offense, picking up seven kills. Allis were helped by Maddie Shelton and Bianca Hutzler, who contributed 12 assists each. Reese Troxler controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.
Hedgesville had a senior duo take command as Alexa Smith had 17 digs and six assists and Adyson Seymour had 14 assists and seven digs.
Musselman's defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 16-7. As for Hedgesville, the win was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 19-3-1.
