Softball Recap: Bay Ridge Prep Starts off Right with Win over Dwight

Bay Ridge Prep took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Wednesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Dwight Lions a 10-0 shutout. The win was familiar territory for Bay Ridge Prep, who have now won 13 contests in a row dating back to last season.

Claire Giardina was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over four innings pitched. Those ten strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-3. She has been hot for a while, having posted at least one stolen base the last nine times she's played.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Selina Psarras, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Langsfeld, who scored a run while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Bay Ridge Prep will have a chance to go back-to-back against Dwight: the pair will be back at it again later today.
