Softball Recap: Delaware County Christian Knights vs. Dock Mennonite Pioneers

Delaware County Christian extended their losing streak to nine on Friday, dropping their season record down to 1-10 in the process. They lost 16-2 to the Dock Mennonite Pioneers. If the Knights were looking for revenge after losing 16-0 to the Pioneers when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Maryn D'Antonio was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

As for Dock Mennonite, their record is now 4-2. The result was nothing new for the Pioneers, who have now won four contests by 11 runs or more so far this season.

On Dock Mennonite's side, Avery Kutzner was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Kutzner was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Dana Delamater, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Taelyn Landis also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Looking ahead, Delaware County Christian will take on Plumstead Christian at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. Plumstead Christian has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.25 runs per game on average), something Delaware County Christian will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Dock Mennonite, they will square off against The Christian Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
