Preview: Seaholm Maples vs. Groves Falcons

Seaholm is on a nine-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Groves is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Seaholm Maples will take on the Groves Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Last Thursday, everything went Seaholm's way against Oak Park as Seaholm made off with a 42-22 win. Given Seaholm's advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan football rankings (they are ranked 96th, while Oak Park is ranked 254th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Seaholm's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Colton Kinnie led the charge by rushing for 84 yards on only six carries, while also throwing for 44 yards and a touchdown while completing 100% of his passes. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyle Robbins, who gained 59 total yards and two touchdowns.

Meanwhile, Groves got themselves on the board against Ferndale on Friday, but Ferndale never followed suit. They claimed a resounding 49-0 win over the Eagles on the road. The game was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Groves had established a 35 point advantage.

Their wins bumped Seaholm to 7-1 and Groves to 6-2.

Things could have been worse for Seaholm, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 26-12 loss to Groves in their previous meeting back in November of 2022. Will Seaholm have more luck at home instead of on the road?
