The Middletown Mustangs will take on the Cloverdale Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.
Middletown not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since March 31st (when they won 21-2). They were the clear victors by a 13-3 margin over Lower Lake. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Mustangs.

Cody De Jong made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Middletown is 3-1 when De Jong posts two or more runs, but 7-9 otherwise.
In other batting news, Jon Hawkins was incredible, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs. He is becoming a predictor of Middletown's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 8-1 (and 2-9 when he doesn't). John Finney was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Middletown always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .526. They are 3-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Cloverdale got the win against Upper Lake on Friday by a conclusive 11-1. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Cougars recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.
Cloverdale's win bumped their record up to 6-11. As for Middletown, the victory got them back to even at 10-10.
Middletown came out on top in a nail-biter against Cloverdale in their previous meeting back in April, sneaking past 7-5. Do the Mustangs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
