Basketball Recap: Fontainebleau Comes Up Short

Fontainebleau was the 46-41 winner over Parkview Baptist when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Fontainebleau Bulldogs might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting the Parkview Baptist Eagles an easy 64-41 victory. The Bulldogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

When it comes to explaining why Fontainebleau lost on Saturday, don't look at Laderricka Payne. Despite the final result, she went 7 of 15 on her way to 18 points along with eight boards and four steals. Payne's morning made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Hollowell, who posted four points and four blocks.

Even though they lost, Fontainebleau smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 14 offensive boards in four consecutive matches.

Fontainebleau's loss dropped their record down to 7-7. As for Parkview Baptist, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season.

Fontainebleau didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 32-22 defeat against St. Mary's Dominican on the 21st. Parkview Baptist and Vestavia Hills will round out the year against one another at at 3:00 p.m. on December 28th.
