Softball Recap: Barren County Snags Eighth Victory in Last Nine Games

Barren County never let their opponents score on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Glasgow Scotties as they made off with a 15-0 victory. Considering the Trojans have won nine matches by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Not much got past Shea Bogue, who gave up just a hit and racked up eight Ks to keep Glasgow off the board. Bogue has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Barren County got a massive performance out of Kaitie Elmore, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Gracie Myatt, who went 1-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Barren County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .394. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .345 or higher in four consecutive contests.

Barren County is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Glasgow, they dropped their record down to 1-15 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home.

Coming up, Barren County will take on Green County at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Glasgow, they will face off against Henry Clay at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Scotties are facing the Blue Devils at the right time seeing as the Blue Devils are stuck on a five-game losing streak.
