Basketball Recap: New Summerfield Comes Up Short

New Summerfield was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss. They were beaten by the Overton Mustangs 73-32. While losing is never fun, the Hornets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1585th, while the Mustangs are ranked 553rd).

Bryce Still was his usual excellent self, going 10 of 19 en route to 29 points and three steals for Overton. The dominant performance gave Still a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Edwards, who went 5 for 6 on his way to 11 points and three steals.

New Summerfield's defeat dropped their record down to 6-16. As for Overton, they pushed their record up to 16-5 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home.

New Summerfield has already played their next game (against Mt. Enterprise), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Overton is taking a road trip to challenge Carlisle at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Overton is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.4 points per game this season.
