Recap: Westerly Bulldogs vs. Woonsocket Villa Novans
The Westerly Bulldogs won the last time they faced the Woonsocket Villa Novans, and things went their way on Friday too. Westerly had just enough and edged Woonsocket out 24-21. Westerly has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Westerly found their leader in underclassman Landon Husereau, who threw for 275 yards and two touchdowns. Luke Nelson did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 119 receiving yards.
Woonsocket's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Daunte Melton, who threw for 213 yards and two touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamaury Barr, who picked up 173 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Westerly's win bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Woonsocket, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-3 record this season.
Westerly does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Woonsocket is also done with their season.
