Recap: Newton-Conover Red Devils vs. Bandys Trojans

The Newton-Conover Red Devils lost against the Bandys Trojans back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Newton-Conover took a 47-30 bruising from Bandys. Newton-Conover has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Newton-Conover's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Sara Sain, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 13 rebounds, and Emma Smith who scored six points along with nine rebounds. Sain hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for seven straight games.

Bandys got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Lexi Vaughan out in front who scored 14 points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Rachel Anderson, who scored 12 points along with three steals.

Newton-Conover's defeat dropped their record down to 6-15. As for Bandys, they pushed their record up to 12-9 with that victory, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Newton-Conover's homestand continues as they prepare to take on West Lincoln at 6:00 p.m. on February 9th. Hopefully Newton-Conover focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 29 on Tuesday. As for Bandys, they will head out on the road to square off against Maiden at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in North Carolina (Maiden is ranked 245th, while Bandys is ranked 247th).
