Volleyball Recap: St. Francis Desales Starts off Right with Win over Newark

St. Francis DeSales had to kick off their season on the road on Wednesday, but they showed no ill effects. They came out on top against the Newark Wildcats by a score of 3-1.

St. Francis DeSales walked away with the victory (and looked especially good in the fourth set). The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 25-19, 23-25, 25-11.

Ava Gilmartin was the offensive standout of the matchup as she had seven digs and four aces.

Gilmartin wasn't the only good server: St. Francis DeSales was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 17 aces. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Newark only served seven aces.

St. Francis DeSales didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 2-1 defeat against Big Walnut on the 23rd. As for Newark, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 2-0 win against Worthington Christian on the 23rd.
