Baseball Recap: Mount Vernon Takes a Loss

If Mount Vernon was feeling good fresh off their 11-1 takedown of Eastern on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Majors fell just short of the Justice Wolves by a score of 6-4 on Friday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wolves this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 5-3 back in March.

Everett Paone was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played.

Mount Vernon has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-9 record this season. As for Justice, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-6.

Looking ahead, Mount Vernon will take on Lewis at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Majors' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Lancers have averaged an impressive 6.4 runs per game this season. As for Justice, they will head out to challenge Annandale at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
