Basketball Recap: St. Francis Comes Up Short

St. Francis played a tough match on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against the Kaneland Knights, falling 54-27. While losing is never fun, the Spartans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 315th, while the Knights are ranked 88th).

Despite the loss, St. Francis still got an impressive performance from Mia Quaranta, who went 5 of 10 on her way to 10 points.

St. Francis has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-17 record this season. As for Kaneland, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 17-9.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Francis will host Glenbard West at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Kaneland, they will be playing at home against Wheaton Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. The timing is sure in Kaneland's favor as the team sits on four straight wins at home while Wheaton Academy has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.
