Basketball Recap: Daniel Wehr's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Panther Valley over Pottsville

Panther Valley fought the good fight in their overtime game against Pottsville on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Pottsville Crimson Tide by a score of 56-54. The loss continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Crimson Tide: they've now lost four in a row.

Several Panthers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Daniel Wehr, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 16 boards. Those 16 rebounds gave Wehr a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Brady Jones, who went 5 of 11 en route to 14 points.

Pottsville's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Christian Alvarez, who made all 7 shots he took for 17 points. Another player making a difference was Letrel Montone, who made all 5 shots he took to post 15 points.

Panther Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 12-10. As for Pottsville, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season.
