Softball Recap: Mississinawa Valley Find Success

Mississinawa Valley won the last time they faced National Trail and things went their way on Thursday too. The Blackhawks walked away with a 9-5 victory over the Blazers. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Blackhawks.

Ella Godfrey spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five runs (all of which were unearned) on four hits and racked up 16 Ks. Those 16 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

At the plate, Mississinawa Valley got a massive performance out of Cora Hoggatt, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple marked the first that Hoggatt hit this season. Another player making a difference was Stephany De La Torre, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double.

Mississinawa Valley's win bumped their record up to 3-4. As for National Trail, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-5.

Looking ahead, Mississinawa Valley will square off against Russia at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for National Trail, they will face off against Carroll at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
