While Hoffman Estates didn't have the best season last year (they finished 12-22), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They came out on top against the Elgin Maroons by a score of 2-0 on Saturday. The Hawks haven't had any issues with the Maroons recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Brendon Gallardo paced Hoffman Estates' offense, picking up nine kills. Gallardo got some help from Nathaniel Ham and his 14 assists. Ham was also solid from the service line: he led the team with two aces.

Hoffman Estates' win bumped their record up to 7-4. As for Elgin, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-8.

Hoffman Estates didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 2-1 victory against Streamwood on the 12th. Elgin has also already played their next contest (against Timothy Christian), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
