While Elizabeth Forward put up some runs on Wednesday, the same can't be said for Uniontown. The Warriors put the hurt on the Red Raiders with a sharp 10-0 win. Considering the Warriors have won seven matchups by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Charlie Nigut and Jacob Peterson were major factors while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Nigut tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Peterson didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Nigut has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. At the plate, Nigut got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles, while Peterson went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double. That's the most doubles Nigut has posted since back in May of 2024.
In other batting news, Mitchell Vuick was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Those two hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of JB Crovak, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Elizabeth Forward hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Uniontown struck out 13 times.
The victory (which was Elizabeth Forward's third in a row) raised their record to 13-3. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Uniontown, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-15.
