Huntington North and Columbia City are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2018, but likely not for long. The Vikings will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against the Eagles at 5:30 p.m. Huntington North is looking for their season's first victory.

Huntington North fell victim to East Noble and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They came up short against the Knights, falling 18-0.

Huntington North saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Anna Kalhoefer, who went 1-for-2 with one double. That double was Kalhoefer's first of the season.

Meanwhile, Columbia City unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Tuesday. They wound up with the same score they had in their last game (8-7), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time. Eagles fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Spartans since on Tuesday.

Emma Hiss was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.

Columbia City's defeat dropped their record down to 9-3. As for Huntington North, their loss dropped their record down to 0-8.

Huntington North was able to grind out a solid win over Columbia City in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, winning 4-0. Do the Vikings have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
