Softball Recap: Westminster Sets Scoring Season-High Against Liberty

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Westminster). They were the clear victors by a 14-3 margin over the Liberty Lions on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Owls have posted against the Lions since March 29, 2019.

Lila Moxley made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Those six strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and one triple.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ryley Winebrunner, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Brianna Witter, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Westminster was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .312 or higher in three consecutive matches.

Westminster's victory ended a five-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-8. As for Liberty, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3-1.
