Basketball Recap: Desoto County Academy Takes a Loss

Desoto County Academy had to start their season on the road on Saturday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They took a blow against the Franklin Road Christian Minutemen, falling 56-17.

Lakelyn Dempsey was her usual excellent self, going 7 of 13 on her way to 17 points along with six assists and six steals for Franklin Road Christian. Dempsey is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least three every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Anora Golden, who went 5 for 8 on her way to 10 points and five steals.

The victory made it two in a row for Franklin Road Christian and bumps their season record up to 4-1.

Desoto County Academy will be defending their home court for the first time this season when they go up against Leake Academy at 2:30 p.m. on December 21st. As for Franklin Road Christian, they will be defending their home court for the first time this season when they go up against Zion Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
