Suggested Video

The Windward Wildcats will face off against the Olympian Eagles at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Windward was handed a nine-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out Kearny 4-3. The win was some much needed relief for the Wildcats as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Meanwhile, Olympian sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 10-8 victory over Campbell Hall on Wednesday.

Esteban Diaz made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just two earned (and six unearned) runs off six hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four). He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.

In other batting news, Josh Rodriguez was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Hector Peralta was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

Windward pushed their record up to 8-5 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games. As for Olympian, they have been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-3-1 record this season.
