Basketball Game Preview: Panther Creek Panthers vs. Aubrey Chaparrals

The Panther Creek Panthers are taking a road trip to challenge the Aubrey Chaparrals at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Panther Creek is headed into the match after thoroughly thrashing Van Alstyne: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Panther Creek blew Van Alstyne out of the water with a 75-39 final score. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Panther Creek had established a 32 point advantage.

Meanwhile, Aubrey waltzed into their game on Friday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They managed a 61-55 victory over the Panthers. Given the Chaparrals' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 140th, while the Panthers are ranked 783rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Panther Creek pushed their record up to 17-8 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.5 points per game. As for Aubrey, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season.

Panther Creek was able to grind out a solid victory over Aubrey when the teams last played back in February of 2024, winning 64-52. The rematch might be a little tougher for Panther Creek since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
