Softball Recap: Bangor Beats Lawrence for Their Second Straight Win

Bangor came out on top against Lawrence on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run first inning. The Vikings' pitcher stepped up to hand the Tigers an 11-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Vikings, who have now won 13 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Isabelle Horvath was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 14 over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 16 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Emily Wisniewski, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Azariah Jackson also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

The win made it two in a row for Bangor and bumps their season record up to 15-3. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 1 runs in those games. As for Lawrence, their loss was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 0-10.

Bangor will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Tigers: the pair will be back at it again later today.
