Football Preview: Rusk Eagles vs. Bullard Panthers
After each having a week off, the Rusk Eagles and the Bullard Panthers will shake off the cobwebs and square off against one another at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Rusk and four for Bullard.
Two weeks ago, Rusk lost to Canton on the road by a 21-3 margin. The contest marked Rusk's lowest-scoring game so far this season.
Meanwhile, Bullard scored the most points they've had all season last Friday, but it wasn't enough. They fell just short of Teague by a score of 30-28. While the Panthers had to settle for second, they closed the game well in the third quarter, where they outscored the Lions 14-8.
Crew Bowman put forth a good effort for the losing side as he rushed for 39 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 248 yards and a touchdown. A healthy portion of that aerial production (124 yards to be exact) went to Hendrix Smith.
Bullard wouldn't let Teague keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force two fumbles. Bullard can thank Nehemiah Thomas and Dylan Fowler for forcing both of them.
Rusk's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Bullard, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 1-4.
