League recap: Lincoln stuns Fremont in upset

A District 4 recap October 22, 2013

The biggest upset of the week belonged to Lincoln, who defeated 105th ranked Fremont, 51-15. Yohanna Shokai ran for 199 yards in the win.

The Tigers' Sergio Lemus recorded the longest rushing play in A District 4 this season in his game against the Links last week. Lemus scampered for 72 yards on the play and finished with 72 on the day as his team lost to Lincoln.

Shokai was a passing and rushing force as Jeff Pierce's team bested Seth McClain's team.

Shokai was the best running back in the league this week. In 15 carries, he ran for 199 yards as the Links lost to the Links. Teammate Tyson Wilson added to the ground attack by rushing for 126 yards.

Fremont's Eliott Gloeb and Noah Voss led the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-3 quarterback Gloeb has thrown for 1,540 yards this season, while Voss has 46 catches for 595 yards. Lincoln's Shokai leads the league in rushing yards with 1,130.

A big matchup in A District 4 this week will be when Grand Island takes on the Links. As it stands, the Islanders are in first, while Lincoln is in fourth.

Grand Island extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating North Platte, 49-0. The win marks fifth in a row for the Jeff Tomlin's team.
