Basketball Recap: New Ulm Cathedral Comes Up Short

New Ulm Cathedral lost against Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The New Ulm Cathedral Greyhounds came up short against the Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop Thunderbirds, falling 64-41. The Greyhounds have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

When it comes to explaining why New Ulm Cathedral lost, don't look at Brock Carlson. Despite the final result, he went 5-for-12 en route to 10 points and eight rebounds. The dominant performance gave Carlson a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Eli Anderson, who posted eight points and six boards.

New Ulm Cathedral's loss dropped their record down to 9-13. As for Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-13.

Coming up, New Ulm Cathedral will head out to face off against Springfield at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Springfield's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season. As for Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop, they will be playing at home against Wabasso at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Wabasso knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 23 matchups -- so hopefully Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop likes a good challenge.
