Baseball Recap: New Richmond Has No Trouble Against Mariemont

While New Richmond put up plenty of runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for Mariemont. The Lions put the hurt on the Warriors with a sharp 13-0 win. That looming 13-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Lions yet this season.

Alex Uhlenbrock made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over six innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because New Richmond is 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 5-13 otherwise. Uhlenbrock was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Uhlenbrock wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Dallas Klinker, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Those runs marked the first that Klinker has scored this season.

New Richmond's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-14. As for Mariemont, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-8 record this season.

New Richmond will be playing at home against Cincinnati Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Mariemont, they are taking a road trip to face off against Western Hills at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Warriors' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Mustangs have averaged an impressive 8.6 runs per game this season.
