Basketball Recap: Maycee Muselin's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Elgin over Mt. Gilead

Elgin lost against Mt. Gilead back in December of 2022 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Elgin Comets took a 56-39 bruising from the Mt. Gilead Indians. The Comets were down 48-26 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Elgin lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Maycee Muselin, who posted 20 points and seven rebounds. Muselin's evening made it seven games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Wall, who scored ten points and six boards.

Elgin's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 12-8. As for Mt. Gilead, with the victory, they broke their five-game losing streak and moved their record to 8-11.

Elgin has already played their next contest, a 48-45 win against Cory-Rawson on the 3rd. As for Mt. Gilead, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 60-36 victory against Ridgemont on the 3rd.
