Basketball Recap: Independence Patriots vs. Washington Rams
The Independence Patriots came tearing into Friday's contest with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against Washington by a score of 56-45. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Independence also won the last time the pair played back in January.
It was another big night for Ive Niyomukiza, who scored 23 points. He is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 19 or more in the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Diego Martinez, who scored nine points.
Independence is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-12 record this season. As for Washington, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-16.
Independence does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Washington and the Roughriders will face off at 7:00 p.m. on February 6th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Youngker is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak.
