Baseball Recap: Pequannock Sets Scoring Season-High Against Vernon

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Pequannock). Everything went their way against the Vernon Vikings on Thursday as they made off with a 14-3 win. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Golden Panthers considering their two-run performance the contest before.

Pequannock is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for Vernon, with the defeat, they broke their six-game winning streak and moved their record to 6-2.

Coming up, Pequannock will head out on the road to take on Clifton at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Mustangs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.92 runs per game on average), something the Golden Panthers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Vernon, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Wallkill Valley at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday.
