Preview: Chaparral Pumas vs. Sierra Vista Dons
The Chaparral Pumas will take on the Sierra Vista Dons in a holiday battle at 5:30 p.m. on Friday at. Chaparral is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Last Wednesday, Chaparral took their matchup on the road with ease, bagging a 64-31 win over La Quinta. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 37-14.
Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Sierra Vista ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Garden Grove 54-52. The victory was just what Sierra Vista needed coming off of a 77-48 defeat in their prior matchup.
Sierra Vista got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Aaron Buna out in front who scored 15 points along with six assists and six steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Anson Wei, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds.
Chaparral's record now sits at 4-6. As for Sierra Vista, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season.
