Football Recap: Cathedral Prep Starts off Right with Win over Erie + How To Watch

Cathedral Prep took care of business in their home opener on Friday. They snuck past the Erie Royals with a 29-23 win. Given the Ramblers' advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania football rankings (they are ranked 32nd, while the Royals are ranked 211th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

DaZarie Carson had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 184 yards and four touchdowns.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Cathedral Prep was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 252 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in August of 2024.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Cathedral Prep's defense and their three sacks. In fact, those sacks all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Dominic Panighetti.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cathedral Prep will welcome Sharon at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Erie, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Austintown-Fitch at 7:00 p.m. on September 5.
