Volleyball Game Preview: Johnston Panthers vs. Tolman Tigers

The Johnston Panthers will square off against the Tolman Tigers at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Johnston barely beat Toll Gate the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Panthers blew past the Titans 3-0 on Monday. That looming 3-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Panthers yet this season.

Meanwhile, Tolman faced Central Falls in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Tigers walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Warriors.

Tolman had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 21-25, 25-20, 25-23, 25-21.

Tolman's win bumped their record up to 9-3. As for Johnston, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season.

Johnston might still be hurting after the 3-0 defeat they got from Tolman in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
