Baseball Recap: Chittenango Gets the Win

While Chittenango put up some runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for Marcellus. The Bears came out on top against the Mustangs by a score of 4-0. The Bears haven't had any issues with the Mustangs recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

AJ Valente was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one triple and one RBI.

In other batting news, Andrew Kielbasa was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run. Matt Bartoszek was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Chittenango now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Marcellus, they dropped their record down to 3-7 with the loss, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Chittenango will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Mustangs: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
