Softball Recap: Middletown Blue Dragons vs. Ludlowe Falcons
Middletown and Ludlowe squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Middletown had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Ludlowe Falcons by a score of 1-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Middletown of the 11-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2019.
For Ludlowe's part, not much got past Alex Lewey, who gave up just one hit and racked up 11 Ks to keep Middletown off the board. Lewey has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 23 consecutive pitching appearances.
On the hitting side, Ludlowe's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. Middletown's defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 20-5. As for Ludlowe, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 21-5.
