Softball Recap: West Jefferson Takes Down Danville in a Playoff Battle

It's playoff time, and West Jefferson had no trouble coming through when it counted. They never let the Danville Blue Devils get on the board and left with a 3-0 win on Friday. Three seems to be a good number for the Roughriders as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Jenna Mannon made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in 13 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Zoey Brown, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and one double.

The win was the sixth in a row for West Jefferson, bringing their record up to 20-2-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Danville, their defeat dropped their record down to 22-2.

As of now, neither West Jefferson nor the Blue Devils have any future games scheduled.
