Baseball Recap: Westfield Now 3-1 over Last Four Games

Westfield never let their opponents score on Monday. They came out on top against the Brocton Bulldogs by a score of 3-0. This was payback for the Wolverines, who suffered an 11-5 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Danny Bratton made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 14 over seven innings pitched. Those 14 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Bratton wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Joel Stein, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI. Those two RBI gave Stein a new career-high. Another was Trent Ramm, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Westfield has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games. As for Brocton, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-10.

Westfield will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Bulldogs: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
