Baseball Game Preview: South Summit Wildcats vs. Union Cougars

South Summit is 0-7 against Union since March of 2016 but things could change on Tuesday. The Wildcats will host the Cougars at 3:30 p.m.

South Summit is headed into Tuesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game on Thursday. They came up short against Morgan, falling 8-2.

South Summit saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Owen Mair, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI.

Meanwhile, Union entered their tilt with Ben Lomond on Thursday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They put the hurt on the Scots with a sharp 11-1 victory. Considering the Cougars have won seven contests by more than nine runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Union pushed their record up to 16-4 with the win, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.4 runs over those games. As for South Summit, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-13.

South Summit might still be hurting after the 11-1 loss they got from Union in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Wildcats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
